An effective and accessible way of getting help.
Telephone counselling services are primarily
directed at individuals living in an area or having circumstances that make
attending regular sessions with a therapist difficult.
Counselling over the phone works much the same as if you where
attending in person.
Sessions are 50 minutes in length. They are structured and governed by the
same code of confidentiality and conduct as in person sessions.
Telephone Counselling can be an effective way of helping you with many
problems including: relationship problems, phobias, separation, divorce,
shyness, anger, alcohol abuse, addiction, loss, feelings of sadness,
depression, anxiety, emptiness and issues involving life purpose and
direction.
The first step is to call for an appointment time.
In your message let me know, your name, your phone number, and a few dates
and times when it is likely I can reach you. I will try to return your call
at one of these times. Also, let me know if I can leave a message at your
phone number. I will call you back and we can set up an appointment. Except
for your initial phone call, I will be calling you, therefore any long-distance
charges are included in your fee.
Keep in mind, when setting up an appointment time, sessions are an
opportunity to focus exclusively on your needs and concerns. It is important
that you pick a time when you will not be disturbed. Have your phone in a
place that allows you to be comfortable and relaxed. Have a glass of water
poured, and allow time before and after a session. Although sessions are 50
minutes, it is a good idea to set aside 11/2 hours. Take time
before your session to relax and focus on what is important for you to cover
in the session. At the end of the session, it is a good idea to set aside
time to reflect on the session and prepare for the rest of your day.
